The three main Dominican airports are Santo Domingo, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata; they are connected with Europe and America daily, with many transatlantic flights. Once you have arrived, it is advisable to spend one night in your landing area: the rest of the travel will take place tomorrow.

This trip can be organised with different means: collective taxi, approximately four hours road, and about USD 110.-; individual taxi, same duration, a little bit more expensive; regular flight from Santo Domingo to Samana: approximately thirty minutes of flight and about USD 65.-; or private taxi flight, same flight duration and approximately USD 180.-.
The only seriously unadvisable mean to reach Samana if you travel there for the first time is a rental car. You should be aware of and have observed with your own eyes the way the Dominican traffic happens, before making such a decision
